EECP®: A Non-Invasive Treatment for Coronary Artery Disease

Beth Israel Medical Center is currently the only hospital in New York City to offer Enhanced External Counterpulsion (EECP®) as a treatment for patients with coronary artery disease who suffer from stable and unstable angina pectoris, even those patients who have previously undergone angioplasty procedures or coronary bypass surgery.

EECP is a completely non-invasive, painless treatment. EECP has been tested in multicenter, controlled, clinical studies, with positive medical results and demonstrated quality-of-life improvement. Since July 1, 1999, the Health Care Financing administration has provided coverage for EECP therapy to qualified Medicare patients.

Over 140 private insurance carriers pay for EECP therapy on a case-by-case basis, with an increasing number offering coverage on a blanket basis. For more information about EECP, call Beth Israel Medical Center at 212-420-2357.
